3. Measures for meeting accessibility requirements

The website has been designed to be accessible to as many people as possible. The guidelines for accessible web content – WCAG 2.2 – have been adhered to as far as possible. At present, the website partially meets the requirements of WCAG conformance level AA.

The following measures are intended to enable barrier-free use of the website:

  • Content in easy-to-read text version
  • Easy-to-read font size
  • High color contrast
  • Clear and understandable text
  • Logically structured heading structure
  • Alternative texts and descriptions for images and audiovisual content
  • Responsive optimization for all screen sizes
  • Ongoing review of new features for accessibility

In principle, the website has been developed in such a way that users can make the best possible use of the corresponding accessibility features on their own devices, e.g., zoom, keyboard operation, dark mode, contrast adjustment, or read-aloud function.

3.1 Non-accessible content

The following areas of the website do not currently comply with the guidelines for accessible web content – WCAG 2.2.
We are working to remedy these shortcomings and continuously improve the accessibility of the website.

3.1.1 Incompatibility with accessibility requirements
  • Some images and buttons do not have alternative text, or the alternative text does not contain a description of the specific image. (WCAG criterion 1.1.1)
  • On some pages, hierarchy levels are skipped in the heading structure or the order of the headings is not logical. (WCAG criterion 1.3.1)
  • The tab order or menu position is sometimes incorrect (WCAG criterion 1.3.2).
  • Some form fields do not have standardized attributes to indicate the purpose of the input and do not have an assigned label. (WCAG criteria 1.3.5 and 3.3.2)
  • The functions of some buttons are not specifically described in the link text, or no attribute-based information is available. (WCAG criterion 2.4.4)
Some forms are currently only accessible in PDF format.
3.1.2 Disproportionate burden

For economic and organizational reasons, it is currently not possible to fully optimize the tab index of the website for accessible navigation.

3.1.3 The content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions

The following embedded content and functions from third-party providers may contain barriers that are beyond our control:

  • Google Maps
  • YouTube videos
  • Social media feeds
  • Third-party plug-ins, e.g., CAPTCHA and Borlabs cookie banners.
